Last planting of garden #1, I was able to get quite a bit of lettuce in, along with spinach, swiss chard, carrots, radish and green onion. You can see how much of what I planted is coming up quite nicely.

Carrots (left) and radish (middle). The onion was planted all the way to the right, but they are not coming up as nicely as everything else.
You can probably see on the first photo where the dirt has been disturbed between the lettuce/spinach rows. I planted red and white onion sets there, which should work out just great since onions and lettuce are “garden friends” (according to the Vegetable Gardener’s Bible, p.50), and the fact that there is so much time between the harvest times of the onion and lettuces.

What have you planted in your winter garden?

How awesome you can still have a garden in November. No garden here, with cold weather.
Yes, we are blessed here in California with a pretty much year-round growing season. Now I just need to figure out how to do that!
What a nice looking garden darlin’. I am hoping next year I can do somewhat of a winter garden. I need to do some research so that I can find out what would grow well here in TN in the winter. Right now, we are planning our garden for next year. I am excited about being able to can again! I feel this urge to can our own food as much as we can.
Thanks dear, and yep,I know what you mean about canning your own food. If you know what zone you are in, you can easily find out when and what to plant at any given time of the year. Let me know if you need some help figuring that out, I’d be glad to.
So glad to see you around, btw.
